Basic Conditions for Obtaining Citizenship in Turkey
Turkish citizenship can be obtained in the following ways:
1. Citizenship by Investment
One of the following types of investments must be made:
Purchase of real estate
Establishing a company or making an investment
Purchase of government bonds or investment funds
Deposit in a bank
In addition:
Opening an account in a Turkish bank
Obtaining a tax number
It is mandatory.
2. Citizenship by Marriage
You can apply after at least 3 years of official marriage with a Turkish citizen.
3. Citizenship by Birth
If either of the parents is a Turkish citizen, the child becomes a citizen by birth.
4. Citizenship through Labor
Working in Turkey with at least 5 years uninterrupted work permit is a must.
5. The General Way (Naturalization)
5 years of uninterrupted residence with short-term residence depending on TAPU
Total time out of Turkey within 5 years must not exceed 365 days or 6 months at a time
Knowledge of Turkish and sufficient financial income are required
6. Exceptional Citizenship
It can be awarded to people with extraordinary achievements in science, art, sport or business.
Turkish Citizenship by Investment
Foreigners can obtain citizenship within 6-12 months if they fulfill one of the following conditions:
1. Real Estate Investment
Minimum price: 400.000 USD (title deed value)
Can be residential or commercial
Must not have been used by another investor before
3 year sales ban applies
2. Bank Deposits
At least 500.000 USD deposit
Minimum 3 years blocked
3. Government Bonds or Mutual Funds
500,000 USD worth of investment
- Asset must be preserved for at least **3 years
4. Starting a Business and Employment
500,000 USD investment or
Providing employment for at least 50 people

Stages of Obtaining Citizenship
1. Real Estate Selection and Purchase
- 400.000 USD and above title deed value property is purchased
Certificate of Conformity is obtained from Land Registry Cadastre
2. Short Term Residence (Investor Residence)
Taken within the scope of "Subparagraph J"
Spouse and children under 18 can be included
3. Application for Citizenship
To the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs
File is sent to Ankara
